Literacy:
Writing:
We will be continuing on wit creating a community of writer’s using books, writing exemplars, modelling and short stories (poetic writing). This is in line with our school focus which is writing for the year. We will be using Murray Gadd’s expertise in the process.
Spelling:
We will be continuing with our “Spelling Under Scrutiny” programme (another programme which has been adopted by the school to improve our student’s spelling).
Reading:
We will continue on with our reading programme to enhance our inferencing and comprehension skills.
Numeracy:
We will be continuing on with improving our number and numeration skills. Our strand focus for this term will be Geometry and Measurement.
Rich Task:
Transformation: “You can’t change the past but you can ruin the present by worrying about the future”.
This is our topic for the term. Our fertile question is Why does transformation happen? We will be using our research skills and looking back on all aspects of history and comparing this to today while at the same time seeing how this will affect the future.
Health:
Puberty and Sexuality:
We will be looking at how our bodies transform over time and how this affects us.
Visual Arts:
Surrealism vs Realism:
We will be looking at Surrealism and asking ourselves the question does it relate to realism? Is realism reflected in some Surrealist work?
PE:
Winter Games
We will be practicing a variety of winter games from hockey to netball to soccer etc
